McCarty Family Farms has more than 165 employees in four rural communities: Rexford, Bird City and Scott City, Kansas and Beaver City, Nebraska. Our families, co-workers and their families make these communities our home. We depend upon the local schools, grocery stores, gas stations and small businesses. Last year, we donated more than $65,000 to area community groups.
To help ensure the children in our community get the nutrients they need, our Yogurt for Youth program donates more than 250,000 servings of yogurt to local schools each year. This wouldn't be possible without our partners at Dannon, Southwest Dairy Farmers, Ruan Trucking and the local schools.
Affordable local housing was an issue in our community and we wanted to help. To-date, 80 houses in our communities have been refurbished and are now homes to many of our team members. We also provided land to build the Pine Village Apartments in Rexford and earned the Kansas Ad Astra Partnership Award from the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation for our efforts.
More than 80% of the animal feed we need is grown on our farms or purchased from local farmers. This includes wheat, hay, alfalfa, sorghum, corn and others.
By working with our neighbors or supporting local businesses, we help create a stronger and more sustainable local economy for our rural community.
